How the math works
Jobsites size on crew-hours. ANSI Z4.3, the portable sanitation industry standard, calls for one unit per 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service, which is 400 person-hours per unit. Move to twice-weekly service and the ratio relaxes to one per 15, or 600 person-hours. We never quote below the OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 minimum for your headcount, and an office trailer with plumbing gets an auxiliary septic tank.
Events size on the busiest day. We plan one unit per 250 person-hours of crowd time, deliberately roomier than the PSAI special events chart calls for, because short lines are what guests remember. Alcohol raises the count 20%. One handwash station comes along for every 4 units, and a public gathering gets at least one ADA-accessible unit, one per 20 after that.
